I spent a number of years in practice, for various medium sized firms in the West End before setting up my own practice in 1991, which I grew to a substantial business with over 250 clients. In 2005 I decided to merge with Clarkson Hyde in order to provide my clients with an increased breadth of services to help them grow their businesses and achieve their goals.
I specialise in providing management accounting, budgeting, cash flow and business advisory assistance to clients who do not have the requirement for an in house accountant. Whilst I work with a broad spectrum of businesses, I do have a focus on property, having built up extensive expertise in this field.
Outside of work, I am an enthusiastic amateur sportsman! I enjoy playing squash, football and going to the gym. Aside from that, I also like to take the odd opportunity to travel to somewhere with a warmer climate than the UK!
I joined CH in 1985 as a trainee and went on to qualify, progressing to manager and finally partner in 1997. My experience spans audit, tax, business planning and investigations, with a specialism in helping younger growing companies with their expansion. This means that I have a close working relationship with clients and their staff, which I really enjoy.
Out of the office I enjoy music and travelling with my wife and two kids. My wife is from Mauritius so it’s not hard to find the excuse to escape to the island to visit the relatives!
My expertise lies in helping companies with business planning, company valuations and acquisitions, mergers and company sales. I also work with clients who are experiencing difficult periods of trading to get back to profitability, keeping very close to their business, setting financial controls and helping them move forward. I started my career as a Chartered Accountant and then went on to spend a number of years in commerce, gaining invaluable knowledge and practical experience which enables me to help clients tackle a variety of situations.
On a personal level I enjoy getting involved in charitable work and spending time with my wife, Jo, and two daughters, Laura and Giselle. Having said that, being the only male around three ladies can be a challenge and certainly keeps my negotiating skills sharp!
Since joining Clarkson Hyde in February 2004, I have enjoyed helping a number of clients plan their financial affairs, from auditing and accounting to helping companies reach the next level by raising finance.
My previous roles have ranged from working in an international tax practice to being Group Financial Director of the British Racing Drivers Club at Silverstone. I specialise in the corporate finance arena with experience in leading flotations on both AIM and OFFEX, acting for international clients on acquisitions, mergers and general fund raising with a focus on Asia. I have worked across several industries, with a number of assignments in the Financial Services, regulated and travel sectors, building up an extensive knowledge of the Financial Services Authority, ABTA and ATOL regulations.
In my spare time I enjoy coaching football to all age groups which keeps me relatively fit... and I also have four children of my own to keep me on my toes.
My role at Clarkson Hyde involves providing tax solutions to clients – from assisting with personal and corporate compliance issues to utilising innovative techniques to mitigate a range of taxes. As a qualified Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Tax Advisor, I aim to use my practical experience and knowledge of the industry to help clients plan their tax affairs more effectively – from restructuring groups to incentivising key people.
As tax can become a little heavy at times, I enjoy running as a way of clearing my head and keeping fit at the same time! I am a member of my home town's running club, Sutton Runners, and frequently participate in races from short distances to marathons!
I head up the Family Office division at Clarkson Hyde - a team that specialises in treating the family as a business needing independent taxation and financial management advice. I also assist individual and corporate clients on financial and taxation issues and have many years experience advising non-domiciled and overseas corporate clients on the implications of UK taxation.
In my spare time I’m actively involved in charity work. For many years I was the chairman of Buckets & Spades, a charity running a respite care home for young people with learning difficulties, and am currently Treasurer of Peace Now UK. With the little time I have left I enjoy sailing and exploring the countryside.
After 16 years of commuting and working in top City firms, I joined Clarkson Hyde in 1990 and became a partner shortly after.
Broadly, I focus on the compliance, technical and audit services and have built up an extensive portfolio of clients needing assistance with a wide variety of issues. Some of these have included assisting with business plans, raising finance, business acquisition and involvement in a number of forensic accounting cases. I also deal with the audits of a number of charities as well as other not for profit organisations.
Work, family commitments and DIY do not leave much time for other pursuits, but a picture of Roker Park in my office may be a clue to my support of Sunderland AFC!
I joined Clarkson Hyde as a graduate trainee in 1988, went on to qualify and progressed to a partnership role in 2003. I help clients with their accounting, auditing and other business needs and look after a diverse portfolio of businesses, ranging from multi-nationals to independent companies. My recent projects have ranged from auditing IT recruitment agencies to forensic accounting and expert witness reporting for clients.
Away from the business, I have a young son who ensures a lack of time for leisure activities!... but if ever I find myself with free time I enjoy playing the odd game of tennis and sometimes cycling.
My role at Clarkson Hyde involves working closely with clients on all elements of the accounting and auditing requirements – taking a proactive approach to helping them plan their financial affairs. Since joining in 1996 I qualified and then progressed to senior manager, taking on a partnership role in October 2005. More recently I have been getting involved in a number of due diligence projects to provide security to clients wishing to buy or invest in a business.
On a personal level, my main passion is football but due to the recent birth of my daughter I’ve not had as much time to enjoy it lately. I have been trying to persuade my wife that football can be very stimulating for babies but so far she remains unconvinced! Aside from that I enjoy cooking, listening to music and taking the odd city break.
I assist clients with specialist UK and International tax advice. Since joining forces with Clarkson Hyde in March this year, I have found the clients, partners and staff great to work with and am thoroughly enjoying the challenging work I've been involved in. I was also delighted to become a partner this October to help drive the business forward.
My career has been varied, focussing on specialist tax planning at some leading firms, giving me broad experience to deal with a whole range of issues - from creating the most tax efficient structures using overseas jurisdictions, to setting up leading trust companies.
Away from the office I enjoy spending time in Cyprus - my second home! It's hard to ignore the lure of glorious sunshine, clear blue skies and a wonderful relaxed atmosphere!
I have spent a number of years working in national and international practices and this experience enables me to provide proactive advice and direction on a whole wealth of issues, extending those of the traditional accountancy and audit arenas.
I work with clients to help build their businesses from a strategic and financial perspective and also play a key role in helping businesses who are going through trading difficulties to turn things around for long-term profitability.
When I'm not in the office, I enjoy spending time at my villa in Portugal and I can often be found on the golf course!
I run Hyde Marketing - a marketing and business development consultancy providing support to clients wishing to win new customers or retain existing ones. Hyde Marketing works with the other businesses in the Hyde Partnership very closely on projects where the client's needs extend beyond purely financial. We have seen many times over that having the right marketing strategy and sales plan can be the key to a successful fund raising, acquisition or turn around. Together we are therefore able to provide an integrated service to our clients, sharing our knowledge and expertise to achieve the clients goals.
As an avid Southampton FC supporter, I'm a glutton for hard work (some might say punishment!). When I'm not in the terrace, I try to learn something new. Currently that means golf on my own - horses with my wife Michelle - or Yu-gi-oh with my daughter Ellie!
